Leeds and Liverpool Canal

I walked from our flat in Leeds to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal today. The walk there wasn’t the most scenic, but the section along the canal was so, so lovely in the sunshine. If I were to do this walk again, I would probably start at Bramley Fall park and take a longer route along the canal. It was easy to walk alongside, and I did get to see Kirkstall Abbey from afar, which was lovely too.

Parking: I believe there was parking at Bramley Fall Park.

Length: I totalled at 6.86km, 1hr 14 minutes.

Food: There are a few more options on the main road areas. For example, Cafe 21 at Hollybush. This can be accessed by leaving the canal and heading back up to the main road.

Drive: I didn’t drive, but it would be about 15 minutes from Leeds.

Route: The path was easy to follow alongside the canal. There were also lots of signs for different routes and places of interest, which I would love to go back to.

Accessibility: This was a very accessible route with limited uphill sections.

Landmarks: Kirkstall Abbey can be seen from a distance.

I would love to go back and explore this area a little bit more. It was really lovely walking alongside the canal and I felt like I would have enjoyed it even more if the majority of the route was there. Thank you for reading :)
